Notes: "A Drummer’s Life," a "Melo-dramatic Comedy," opened for one week at Chicago’s Columbia Theatre beginning Feb. 19, 1888. According to "Our Theatres," Chicago Tribune, Feb. 21, 1888, p. 5, Jakey Einstein, the hero in Bassett’s poorly-reviewed "disordered dream," resembles "Sam’l of Posen." The text of "A Drummer’s Life" has not been found.
